TL;DR avoid this store and their membership team at all cost, no understanding of who makes their pay check possible!!
It was that time of year again, the time to renew my membership. I have had the executive membership for more than 5 years. Decided to renew at the register. That did not go well. Had to have the supervisor override something because the teller messed something up. Instead of taking the time to correct the issue and explain the issue they just hurried me through, because you know, the place is slammed everyday and every hour, it would be horrible to have someone wait another 5 minutes.
I then went to the membership desk to have it corrected. Decided the executive membership was not worth the expense and went with the gold. For some reason they messed that up as well, this again was with 2 individuals, a new person and a supervisor. The transaction was slow and finally completed.
Good selection prices reasonable, friendly service. I just wished they used more of the registers everyday instead of just at holidays. That or bring back the self checkout because the checkout lines get ridiculous a lot of the time. Also the trying to find a place to park in the parking lot can sometimes be interesting. But other than that this place to pretty good.
Pretty decent Costco. Good produce and we love getting our salmon, coconut oil, and water softer salt here. Some prices are a bit higher than other stores, though, so be careful of that. Also they don't seem to carry the good fried mango here. They have one brand that's not good at all.
Costco is a Mecca of sorts. There is an unearthly force that pulls at my very being, drawing me to this source of barreled Mayonnaise, gourmet snacks, and sheet cakes. Being an American I can appreciate the available massive quantities of whatever random item I might "need". Also, being 1/2 Korean I can appreciate the efficiency of buying 15 years worth of toilet paper in one visit. However, my American side takes over as I see the holy land that is the food court and I grab a chicken bake, hot dog and drink combo, and personal pizza (18") to tide me over till second lunch.
So a couple of days later went back and the same membership lady was there to help me out. Thought that would be a good thing. Nope, I was wrong again. The membership lady instead of explain the process of what happened and where the mistakes where and how to correct them simply demanded money without any reason. I asked her to slow down and work the process through so I could understand the transactions and line them up with my bank account. Little of the information that they provided was adding up, at this point I am ready to cancel my membership. I give the lady every opportunity to turn this terrible situation into a win, however, customer first is the last thing that is on her mind. She did not yield and forfeited and this chance to turn a simple miss understanding into a great customer experience. Cancelled my membership right on the SPOT!
One last thing, don't stress about the membership. Go with the executive membership you will make the money back I promise.
I don't yet have a Costco membership, but I've been to this one so many times! Maybe the employees should start keeping a better lookout for when I wait by the entrance and then walk in with the next Asian family that comes by. JK!--I'm always with a cardholder, and I don't look very Asian.
Love Costco. No one can beat their return policy, it's always clean and put together. Customer service is great and you can tell that the employees enjoy working there. Don't be fooled by the warehouse appeal. The idea is to cut cost in decoration so that they can save money in pricing. You can honestly buy better meats, electronics, furniture and other items than some of its competition. They only sell items that are quality and that meet certain standards so you don't have to worry. I have been going there for years and will be going for years more.
Note: Mayonnaise does not actually come in barrels here, but they sure do have some big tubs of it!
I love Costco. Maybe one day I'll be a member.
After 2 days, I got a call from the membership lady telling me that the auditor stated that they had given me $240!! Come to find out that not one of the four people that we had worked with actually did the membership correctly. The membership lady explained that I needed to come back into the store immediately as one of their tellers was off that much and they needed it corrected ASAP! Told her that was not a possibility and that I would review my bank transactions before I went back to the store.
